Huawei Logo Font
November 15, 2025
The Huawei logo has gone through several redesigns over the decades, yet its core symbolism has remained consistent. It is built around a visual metaphor that conveys growth, innovation, and the brand’s Chinese heritage.
Meaning and History
Huawei is one of the world’s leading telecommunications companies and a global supplier of smart devices and network infrastructure. The company was founded in 1987 in Shenzhen by Ren Zhengfei, an engineer and former military officer with a strong passion for invention and technological development.
The name Huawei is composed of two Chinese characters:
-
Hua — often referring to China or the Chinese people
-
Wei — meaning “achievement” or “great success”
Together, the name can be interpreted as “China’s Achievement” or “Great Achievement,” aligning with the founder’s ambition to create a domestic telecommunications company capable of competing internationally.
Huawei began its journey by reselling telephone switches to generate capital. All profits were reinvested into research and development, and within three years the company started producing its own telecommunications equipment. In 1993, Huawei launched the C&C08 switching system, which became one of the most powerful Chinese telephone systems at the time.
The 2000s marked a period of global expansion. After entering the mobile device market in 2003, Huawei rapidly grew its smartphone presence. By 2015, it ranked third worldwide in smartphone shipments. The company also played a major role in the development and deployment of 5G networks across the globe.
Today, Huawei employs around 200,000 people, with nearly half dedicated to research and development. Its products are available in more than 170 countries, serving an estimated three billion users.

Logo Evolution
1987 — 2006
The first Huawei logo was introduced around the time the company was founded. It featured a stylized flower composed of multiple red petals. This design symbolized one of the meanings of “Hua” — “flower” — and conveyed ideas of growth, progress, and rising potential. Its radial shape also resembled a sunrise, hinting at new beginnings.
2006 — 2018
In 2006, the logo was refined by a branding agency. The number of petals was reduced, and their shapes became sharper and more defined. A soft 3D effect was added, giving the emblem more depth and a modern high-tech appearance. The rising-sun symbolism became even more evident.
2018 — Today
A subtle update arrived in 2018 with the launch of Huawei’s P20 smartphone line. The overall shape remained the same, but the petals were refined, and the red shade was adjusted to a deeper, cooler tone. This gave the logo a cleaner, more polished, and more premium look suitable for the brand’s expanding product range.
Colors
For three decades, Huawei used a bright and energetic shade of red, symbolizing prosperity, vitality, and good fortune — key values in Chinese culture. In 2018, the color was updated to a slightly darker and more sophisticated tone of red, maintaining the brand’s identity while achieving a more contemporary look.
