The “T” in the name stands for “Telekom,” and is shared across the parent company’s various divisions. Today, T-Mobile serves more than 100 million subscribers, making it one of the world’s largest telecom operators.
The T-Mobile International AG brand represents Deutsche Telekom’s mobile subsidiaries outside Germany. Headquartered in Bonn, the group runs GSM, UMTS, and LTE networks across Europe, the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

1994 – 2001: VoiceStream Wireless
T-Mobile’s American roots go back to VoiceStream Wireless, founded in 1994. Its early logo featured the name “VoiceStream” in dark blue, paired with three red signal waves—a subtle hint at wireless communication technology.
2001 – 2002
In 2001, the VoiceStream logo received an updated tagline: “Global Wireless by T-Mobile.” This version combined a plain black sans-serif font for the first half of the slogan with a serif “T-Mobile” signature, where the “T” appeared in bright magenta.
2001 – 2013
The first official T-Mobile wordmark featured a slim serif font with the magenta “T” as its focal point. Small gray squares were placed between and around the letters, symbolizing digital connectivity. This minimalistic, tech-inspired style helped the company build a strong and recognizable identity.
2013 – 2020
In 2013, the brand intensified its magenta palette and removed the gray accents. The redesigned logo placed the “T” between two magenta squares followed by three additional squares leading into the word “Mobile.” This all-pink version became iconic and widely associated with the brand.
2020 – 2022
The logo was streamlined once again, reducing the number of squares to two and recoloring the entire wordmark in magenta. The result was a cleaner, more contemporary look while keeping the brand’s signature pink at the forefront.
2022 – 2023
The next update strengthened the lettering style and used a deeper shade of magenta. This reinforced the brand’s bold personality and made the logo stand out even more on digital screens and advertising materials.
2023 – Present: Odido
In 2023, the T-Mobile name was replaced by Odido in some markets, leading to a complete visual transformation. The new logo uses geometric shapes—two circles, two half-circles, and a vertical rectangle—to form the word “Odido.” It features a colorful gradient palette with blue, green, orange, and purple tones, reflecting a fresh and modern brand identity.
Audio Logo
T-Mobile is also known for its audio branding: a simple sequence of five notes. Created by Lance Massey in 1999, it is one of the most recognizable sound trademarks in telecommunications.
