Tele2 Logo — Full History and Evolution
Tele2 is a Scandinavian telecommunications operator founded in Stockholm in 1993. Over the years, the brand has expanded across Northern Europe and Russia, serving millions of customers. Its logo has always reflected a bold, distinctive, and unmistakably Nordic design style — simple, confident, and strong in character.
Meaning and History
1993–2007
The very first Tele2 logo introduced in 1993 featured a heavily geometric wordmark with two square dots placed on each side of the inscription. Designed in an ultra-bold stencil font, the lettering appeared industrial and sturdy. A touch of bright blue in the details softened the harsh black forms and balanced the otherwise rigid composition. The number “2” was noticeably larger than the other letters, emphasizing the brand name.
2007–2021
In 2007, Tele2 refreshed its identity with a more modern and dynamic approach. The small blue squares were removed, and the lettering was visually tilted so the ending letters became larger than the first ones. This perspective effect conveyed movement, growth, and digital progress, helping position the brand as innovative and forward-thinking.
2021–Today
The 2021 redesign brought more color and energy into the Tele2 visual identity. The updated typography remains bold and geometric, but the new font gives the logo more volume and motion. Beneath the wordmark, six circular dots in bright gradient colors — transitioning from soft orange to vibrant crimson — symbolize diversity, creativity, and the company’s evolving digital ecosystem. This version feels modern, expressive, and visually confident.
Font and Color
The Tele2 logo uses a strict stencil-style sans-serif typeface reminiscent of fonts like Stencilla Regular or Basic Stencil JNL. Its sharp cuts and blocky forms create an architectural, industrial aesthetic that reinforces strength and reliability — key traits for a telecom operator.
The brand traditionally relied on a black-and-white palette, a timeless combination that enhances clarity and ensures maximum versatility across different media. In its most recent redesign, Tele2 introduced a series of vibrant colored dots that add personality and modern flair while symbolizing innovation and digital diversity.
