Videocon is one of India’s most recognizable consumer electronics brands, founded in 1987 and known for its diverse portfolio ranging from home appliances to smartphones. Over the decades, the company expanded far beyond electronics, investing in multiple industries, including oil and energy. Today, Videocon’s products are manufactured across several countries, with facilities in India, China, Italy, Poland, and Mexico. The brand also operates the Next retail chain, which focuses on mobile and electronics distribution.
Meaning and History
Videocon Industries was established in the late 1970s by Nandlal Madhavlal Dhoot in Aurangabad. According to his grandson, Anirudh Dhoot, Videocon was the first company to introduce color televisions in India—an achievement that helped spark its rapid rise. As the years passed, Videocon broadened its expertise into mobile devices, home appliances, and other consumer technologies, becoming one of the region’s most influential conglomerates.
Beyond electronics, Videocon became a strong force in the oil and energy sector. These investments fueled the company’s ability to innovate continuously and integrate advanced technologies into its consumer products.
What is Videocon?
Videocon is an Indian multinational conglomerate known for manufacturing consumer electronics, home appliances, mobile phones, and various digital products. Founded in the late 1970s, the company expanded globally and remains an important figure in India’s industrial landscape.

Logo Evolution
1979 – 2009
The original Videocon logo, introduced in 1979, featured a sleek emblem that looked almost like an automotive badge. It consisted of a horizontal oval frame containing a stylized “V,” with the top portion of the frame open. Rendered in black and white, the design carried a metallic, three-dimensional look. Below the emblem, the company name appeared in bold uppercase serif lettering, giving the logo a strong and authoritative feel.
This version remained in use for nearly three decades, establishing Videocon’s early visual identity.
2009 – Today
In 2009, Videocon underwent a major brand transformation. The redesign abandoned the metallic automotive-styled emblem in favor of a fresh, modern, and dynamic look. The new logo introduced a bright green, futuristic “V” shape composed of two smooth, drop-like forms with curved edges—symbolizing innovation, energy, and adaptability.
Below the symbol, the company name appears in a contemporary sans-serif typeface set in bold uppercase letters. The softer geometry of the lettering harmonizes with the fluid curves of the emblem, creating a clean and modern corporate identity.
Font and Color
The current Videocon logotype uses a custom sans-serif font featuring smooth curves, generous spacing, and confident shapes. It shares visual characteristics with fonts like Snasm Regular or Conthrax Bold, though with notable modifications—particularly in the unique lowercase-style “n.”
The color palette blends solid black for the wordmark with gradient green for the emblem. This combination conveys professionalism and stability while also highlighting Videocon’s focus on innovation and environmental consciousness.
