November 15, 2025
Wolt is a Finnish technology company founded in Helsinki in 2014. The startup specializes in logistics software and is best known for its fast-growing delivery platform. Through its app and website, customers in nearly 180 cities across Europe and Asia can order meals, groceries, and items from partner restaurants and shops. Today, Wolt serves over 12 million active users and works with more than 45,000 merchants, supported by around 4,000 office employees and over 90,000 couriers.
Meaning and History
Wolt was created by a team of six founders in 2014, who were searching for a name that felt dynamic and memorable. One of the team members came across the phrase “Volt United” among a list of quirky, punk-styled names. The group quickly adapted it into the shorter, sharper “Wolt,” which everyone immediately approved.
From 2015 to 2020, the company expanded rapidly across Europe and later into Japan. During this time, Wolt opened its own retail pickup locations under the “Wolt Market” brand and secured major investments—raising more than half a billion dollars in 2021.
A turning point arrived in 2022 when Wolt officially joined forces with the American delivery giant DoorDash, giving the company even broader global reach.

Logo Evolution
2014 – 2019
The original Wolt logo featured a flowing, cursive wordmark written in black. The letters were connected in a playful handwritten style, angled slightly upward to create a sense of motion and optimism. Because of its soft curves and storytelling feel, many viewers noticed similarities to the iconic Walt Disney signature. The black color kept the design clean, bold, and versatile.
2019
In 2019, Wolt refined its logo to look more modern and professional. The wordmark was straightened horizontally, and the “t” was reshaped with shorter, simpler strokes. These updates helped the brand distance itself from the Disney-like aesthetic and present a more business-oriented image.
2019 – Today
The current Wolt logo retains the hand-drawn charm of earlier versions but appears cleaner and more balanced. On the company’s website, the logo is typically shown as a simple standalone wordmark, while on social media it is often placed inside blue square or circular backgrounds to increase visibility in small formats.
Font
The Wolt wordmark uses a bold, handwritten typeface. The distinctive uppercase “W” stands apart from the rest of the letters, which remain connected. The font combines friendliness with informality, emphasizing Wolt’s approachable and customer-focused brand identity.

Color
Wolt’s visual identity is defined by two main colors: bright blue and white. The white wordmark is commonly used on a vivid blue background, a combination that creates strong contrast and instant recognition. In some contexts, such as on the official website, the logo may appear in black. For social media and branded graphics, the white version is primarily used, often placed on either a solid or gradient blue backdrop.
